Good ol' Kansas weather made for a cold Saturday of fastpitch softball and then a windy, warm Sunday that resulted in the oddest looking farmers tan I've ever had. But enough about me, this holiday weekend was focused on Phenix softball. The girls went undefeated in Topeka on Saturday and then worked their way up the losers bracket on Sunday after losing their first game. Five back-to-back games, and seven hours later (after my skinny stud muffin hit the game winning RBI IN over-time... WITH two strikes...),*deep breath*, they were playing in the championship game. The girls were tired, hot, and every one of them was scraped up but they kept fighting and earned themselves second place and a very nice trophy.

 Not a bad finish for a team who last Fall could scarcely even win a game. This is the second weekend in a row that they have battled for first place and just barely fallen short.
